Abstract

In the current globalization context, the expansion and strengthening of foreign relations on the
basis of peace and mutual respect have become an inevitable trend. With that change, in addition to
traditional hard power, soft power is currently being practiced by most countries in foreign policy to
promote the national image. As an entity actively integrating internationally, Vietnam cannot be separated
from that common trend. In that flow, Hue with cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO has become an
indispensable part of promoting the soft power of Vietnam today. The paper aims at the clarification of
soft power issues and analyzes Hue's advantages for Vietnam's soft power promotion.
