Abstract

In Thua Thien Hue, lotus tea is becoming increasingly popular as a drink known to many people for its health, cultural, and spiritual values. This study explores the state of manufacturing and processing lotus tea in the locality. The results show that there are nine types of lotus tea: dried lotus flower tea, dried lotus leaf tea, fresh lotus leaf tea, lotus leaf tea bag, dried lotus root tea, lotus embryo tea, tea marinated with fresh lotus, and tea marinated with lotus rice. Thua Thien Hue has 14 lotus tea production and trading establishments with five organizations and nine households (individuals), mainly located in Hue City. Most households run their business on a small scale and utilize traditional manufacturing processes, and they are located in Phu Hoa ward, Hue City, and Phong Dien district. Businesses that manufacture and trade lotus tea on a large scale, applying science and technology in combination with traditional tea production techniques, are mainly located in Huong So, Kim Long, Thuan Thanh, and Duc wards. The research also reveals advantages and disadvantages and proposes several solutions to the production and consumption of lotus tea in the province.
