The results obtained from the model reveal that the size of the economies, income disparities, and geographical distances between Vietnam and the EU significantly affect their trade. Conversely, exchange rates negatively impact bilateral trade, while tariffs do not show a statistically significant correlation in the model. Based on these findings, the research proposes policy recommendations aiming at boosting Vietnam's exports to the EU.</p> Phan Thanh Hoan, Duong Thi Dieu My, Nguyen Thi Le Huong Copyright (c) 2023 Phan Thanh Hoan, Nguyen Thi Le Huong, Duong Thi Dieu My https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jos.hueuni.edu.vn/index.php/hujos-ed/article/view/7310 Fri, 29 Mar 2024 00:00:00 +0000 The effect of hybrid rice seeds adoption on the technical efficiency of rice farmers in Vietnam https://jos.hueuni.edu.vn/index.php/hujos-ed/article/view/7273 <p>Agricultural technology adoption is one of the crucial factors to increase the productivity and efficiency of agricultural production in developing countries. This study analyzes the effect of hybrid rice seeds adoption on the technical efficiency of rice farmers in Vietnam by using the dataset of the Vietnam Household Resource Access Survey 2018 (VARHS 2018). The paper employs the stochastic production frontier analysis (SFA) method with two stages including the production function model and inefficiency model to examine the influence of the hybrid rice seeds adoption on the technical efficiency of rice production. The estimation results show that the adoption of hybrid rice varieties increases the level of technical efficiency. In addition, the results show that the group of households adopting the hybrid rice seeds has higher productivity and technical efficiency levels than the non-adopters. From the results above, we suggest relevant policy implications to enhance the adoption of hybrid rice seeds and farmers' access to better inputs.</p> Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, Le Nu Minh Phuong, Pham Xuan Hung, Hoang Thanh Long Copyright (c) 2023 Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, Le Nu Minh Phuong, Pham Xuan Hung, Hoang Thanh Long https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jos.hueuni.edu.vn/index.php/hujos-ed/article/view/7273 Fri, 29 Mar 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Evaluate the integration performance of text-to-speech artificial intelligence systems for supporting visually impaired students in the smart university model https://jos.hueuni.edu.vn/index.php/hujos-ed/article/view/7300 <p>People with disabilities have been facing difficulties and barriers in terms of inclusive education, especially at the undergraduate level. Our result indicated that the state land price has adjusted many times but is still low, the price of central areas fluctuated between 1 and 15 million VND/m2, while in the peri-urban areas, it altered between 0.41 and 6.24 million VND/m2. The market’s land price ranged from 9–75 million VND/m2 in central and peri-urban areas from 5 to 55 million VND/m2. There were numerous fluctuations in the period 2018 - 2022 due to the Covid-19 epidemic, increased bank interest rates, and alterations in administrative boundaries. The residential land prices of peri-urban exhibited an upward trend from 2018 to 2021 but declined in 2022 compared to the central area. Peri-urban areas experienced more pronounced fluctuations in prices compared to central areas, with the difference in land prices between the market and state still notably high. In particular, there were substantial differences in the land prices located in the second, third, and fourth positions. Simultaneously, the research has put forward several solutions aimed at determining residential land prices regulated by the state to align more closely with market prices.</p> Le Huu Ngoc Thanh, Duong Quoc Non, Pham Thi Thao Hien, Nguyen Huu Ngu Copyright (c) 2024 Le Huu Ngoc Thanh, Duong Quoc Non, Pham Thi Thao Hien, Nguyen Huu Ngu https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jos.hueuni.edu.vn/index.php/hujos-ed/article/view/7323 Fri, 29 Mar 2024 00:00:00 +0000 User-generated content and destination images: A bibliometric analysis https://jos.hueuni.edu.vn/index.php/hujos-ed/article/view/7372 <p>Social networks with content shared by tourists or users who have experienced tourism services are considered the primary source of information that forms the image of a tourism destination. The findings show that, in general, the risk contagion between the VND and other crucial Asian currencies in the study is modest. Second, the intensity of risk spillovers is not constant but varies over time, spiking significantly when Covid-19 became a pandemic. Third, the VND is a net-risk receiver currency, especially from stronger currencies such as KRW, SGD, or JPY, and becomes more vulnerable during the disease occurrence.</p> Le To Minh Tan, Nguyen Manh Tuan, Phan Thanh Hoan Copyright (c) 2024 Le To Minh Tan, Nguyen Manh Tuan, Phan Thanh Hoan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jos.hueuni.edu.vn/index.php/hujos-ed/article/view/7325 Fri, 29 Mar 2024 00:00:00 +0000 The economic efficiency of organic rice contract farming: case study in Phong Hien commune, Phong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province https://jos.hueuni.edu.vn/index.php/hujos-ed/article/view/7411 <p>A random survey of 85 farmers engaging in organic rice contract farming was conducted in Phong Hien Commune, Phong Dien District, Thua Thien Hue Province. The economic accounting and quantile regression methods are applied to quantify the economic efficiency of households and the factors that affect annual revenue in the various quantiles. The findings show that the average annual profit of farmers is 0.709 million VND/ 500 m2. The revenue-to-total cost ratio in all cropping seasons is greater than 1, indicating that farmers are profitable and their profit margin is 17%. Moreover, an average family labor contribution generates a profit of 179 thousand VND/ 500 m2. The results of quantile regression at 75% show that the annual revenue of households is positively affected by two factors: education and the interaction of cultivated area and family labor cost. Improving the economic effeciency of farming household hinges on their ability to effectively utilize and allocate expenses, optimize the costs of purchasing organic fertiliser, and harmonizing production scale with labor utilization sourced from within the family. This research contributes empirical evidence in support of planning the development of organic rice production in Thua Thien Hue Province. </p> Tran Huynh Bao Chau, Nguyen Hoang Diem My, Bui Dung The, Tran Huynh Quang Minh, Hoang Bao Duc Copyright (c) 2024 Tran Huynh Bao Chau, Nguyen Hoang Diem My, Bui Dung The, Tran Huynh Quang Minh, Hoang Bao Duc https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jos.hueuni.edu.vn/index.php/hujos-ed/article/view/7411 Fri, 29 Mar 2024 00:00:00 +0000
