Abstract

Understanding households’ vulnerability to climate change is necessary for any actors working on the theme of adaptation and mitigation the impact of climate change. There has been great effort made for that purposes at international, regional and community level, however less done with marginalized groups. This paper presents the result of study investigating the marginalized groups and vulnerability to climate change in Thua Thien Hue province. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used to collect data for this study, including key informant interviews, focus group discussion and household questionnaire survey. The findings pointed to the fact that marginalized household group, particularly sampan and ethnic minority groups who are defined as the most vulnerability to climate change in Thua Thien Hue province as they have low adaptive capacity, while they are highly sensitive and exposure to climate change. Enhancing their adaptive capacity will be essential step in the process of climate change adaptation and mitigation in this province.
