Potential of water resources in Chang Riec area, Tay Ninh province and solutions for exploiting and using water economically

Abstract

The residential area in Chang Riec hamlet, Tan Lap commune, Tan Bien district, Tay Ninh province, was built near the border with Cambodia. Located in the border area and 30 km from the centre of Tan Lap commune, Chang Riec hamlet badly needs underground water for daily consumption. Various field methods, such as routing, exploratory drilling, geophysical measurements, and balance and hydrodynamic method calculations, were carried out to assess the potential of water resources. The results of the investigation and calculation show that the surface water flow is insignificant. The water level is low, and water often dries up in the dry season. The total underground water potential in the studied area is estimated at 224,151 m3/day, and the exploitable reserve of underground water in the area is 67,245 m3/day. However, to ensure a long-term operation and suitable exploitation efficiency of the drilling holes, we suggest the maximum exploitation flow at 75% of the forecasted exploitation flow of the boreholes.
