Abstract

Nature-based tourism plays an essential role not only in effectively managing natural resources but also in promoting socio-economic development. The impacts of nature-based tourism in Bach Ma National Park were analyzed and explored on the basis of the views of 182 people living in buffer zones. According to exploratory factor analysis, six components of tourism affect the perceptions relating to economic, social, and environmental aspects. Among them, “Positive economic impact” and “Positive social impact” are significant factors the residents recognized from the development of tourism. The findings support empirical evidence on various impacts of nature-based tourism development on local socio-economic activities and protected area management in Vietnam. They also provide an essential basis for policymakers and local authorities at different levels to propose effective solutions and interventions for sustainable tourism development.
