Abstract

The study focuses on assessing changes in agricultural land use in the Tan An area in the period of 2010-2024 on the basis of maps of current land use in 2010, 2015, 2020 and 2024, combined with statistics and land inventory processed by GIS technology. The datasets were standardized to a common coordinate reference system, harmonized under a unified land-use classification scheme, and compiled into a spatial database comprising the major agricultural land categories, including paddy land (LUC), annual cropland (HNK/BHK), perennial cropland (CLN), aquaculture land (NTS), and other agricultural land (NKH). Overlay analysis and transition matrix methods were employed to identify the magnitude of area change, conversion trajectories, and spatial distribution characteristics of these land categories. The results show that agricultural land decreased from 4,870.14 ha in 2010 to 3,809.35 ha in 2024, representing a loss of 1,060.79 ha. The most prominent change was the conversion between paddy land and perennial cropland: during 2015-2020, the dominant trend was conversion from paddy land to perennial cropland, whereas during 2020-2024, a reverse conversion trend emerged. A comparison between the 2024 land-use status and the 2030 land-use planning map indicates that the agricultural land reserve under the planning scenario is expected to remain at approximately 568.21 ha, providing a useful reference basis for land-use management and planning review.
