In this paper, we present a method for the preparation of carbon nanotube (CNT) and Cu nanoparticle hybrid materials for nanofluids using a chemical reduction precess. The morphology and microstructure of the hybrid materials were investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results show that the Cu nanoparticles were well bonded on the surface of CNT with an average diameter of 25.6 nm and in the range from 6 nm to 35 nm. Cu nanoparticles have high purity without any oxide phase formation during the chemical reduction process. The hybrid material successfully prepared using a simple method and with unique properties has a high potential of application in various fields such as nanofluids, catalysis, gas sensing and biosensing, etc.
