Abstract
Quang Tri Province has considerable potential for the development of Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) aquaculture; however, the supply of fingerlings currently depends largely on transportation from other localities. This study was conducted to evaluate techniques for incubating fertilized eggs and rearing Asian seabass from the egg stage to 60 days of age, corresponding to grade-1 fingerlings, in cement tank systems in Quang Tri Province. The results showed that the hatching rate reached 52.44%, while the deformity rate at 60 days of age was 12.8%. The cumulative survival rate after 60 days of rearing was 27.80%. At the end of the 60-day rearing period, the fish attained an average total length of 2.582 cm and an average body weight of 1.091 g. These results demonstrate the feasibility of incubating and rearing Asian seabass from fertilized eggs under the infrastructure and climatic conditions of Quang Tri Province, providing a basis for the development of local fingerling production and reducing dependence on seed supplies transported from other regions.
