Nghiên cứu này nhằm đánh giá vai trò, nhận thức và mức độ tham gia của cộng đồng địa phương trong phát triển du lịch bền vững tại vùng đầm phá Lăng Cô – Cầu Hai, tỉnh Thừa Thiên Huế. Phương pháp nghiên cứu định tính được sử dụng, kết hợp giữa quan sát và phỏng vấn sâu và phân tích chủ đề (thematic analysis) trên 66 người tham gia, gồm 60 hộ dân và 6 cán bộ quản lý. Kết quả cho thấy du lịch đã trở thành động lực quan trọng trong chuyển đổi sinh kế, giúp người dân giảm phụ thuộc vào khai thác thủy sản, đa dạng hóa nguồn thu nhập và nâng cao nhận thức bảo vệ tài nguyên – môi trường đầm phá. Người dân tham gia vào hoạt động du lịch ở nhiều cấp độ: trực tiếp (dịch vụ du lịch, homestay, vận chuyển), gián tiếp (cung cấp thủy sản, hàng hóa), và thông qua các hoạt động cộng đồng (bảo vệ môi trường, quảng bá văn hóa). Tuy nhiên, du lịch cũng tạo ra những áp lực mới như ô nhiễm rác thải nhựa, lấn chiếm mặt nước, bất bình đẳng hưởng lợi và thiếu liên kết giữa các bên liên quan.
