Abstract

The concept of leadership has changed significantly in the digital age, leading to the emergence of digital leadership. However, because digital leadership is still a relatively new topic, researchers do not yet agree on a single definition. This study aims to fill that gap by exploring the core dimensions of digital leadership using a qualitative approach from the perspectives of hotel managers in Vietnam and academic researchers. Qualitative data were gathered from 16 participants across four discussion groups. Using a competency-based approach, the findings reveal five core dimensions of digital leadership in accommodation establishments: digital vision-building competency, digital inspiration competency, digital organizing competency, digital adaptability competency, and digital culture-building competency. This study adds to the existing literature on digital leadership while helping hotel managers improve their operational efficiency.
