CURRENT STATUS OF CHANGES IN PATTERN DETAIL OF DAU KEO OF RUONG STRUCTURES SYSTEM IN THUA THIEN HUE PROVINCE

Abstract

It can be said that, the essence of Ruong house architecture of Hue is reflected wooden carving detail in the interior. Especially, the motifs are decorated on tips of the trusses (Dau Keo) with topics of variety, abundance, value of high art and its is also reflected the characteristics of each house as well as the aesthetic level of the owner of the house. This issue is also expressed in the viewpoint of Bửu Chỉ’s past painter: "The needs of modification in the architecture of Ruong house in Hue whether to meet business requirements or personal preferences are must respect characteristic architectural value of the ancient house’s Ruong and to must keep the essence of architecture and elegant style of a spatial Hue always exists in the house”.[1]. Derive from those values, researcher team looked for the issue and survey of over 161 carving detail of Dau Keo in 82 house’s Ruong to give a point of view is exactly for the change of detail of on tips of the trusses (Dau Keo) on past time and nowaday. So, to promote the architectural value have national identity can be gradually lost, to find core values, or the desire to find the original form of Dau Keo, as well as meaning, or its name, to contributes preservation of the ancient pattern detail is delicate of older generations and the particular beauty of house’s Ruong in Hue.
