Abstract

In this paper, gold nanoparticles (AuNps) were synthesized using the chemical reduction method with dextran as a reducing agent and protecting agent to form the AuNps/dextran material. The parameters affecting the synthesis of gold nanoparticles, such as chloroauric acid concentration, dextran concentration, temperature, time, and pH of the reaction system, were studied. The formation of Au nanoparticles and their morphology and structure were analyzed using UV-Vis spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The catalytic activity of AuNPs for 4-nitrophenol reduction to 4-aminophenol with sodium borohydride as a reducing agent was also investigated.
