Abstract

The images of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people (LGBT) in Vietnam are mostly
primarily transmitted to people through the largest information channel that is the mass media. This
research article focuses on the two-sided interpersonal impact on the LGBT community by analyzing a
case study focusing on a group of people from this community. The research results show that the most
positive impact of the media is to help them identify the gender form, repel social prejudice and become
important allies in advanced activities of LGBT rights. On the other hand, the media also has negative
impacts such as transmitting inappropriate information and images of homosexuals to viewers. Since then,
the article also pointed out several measures to limit the positive impact of the media on this community.
