Abstract

Foreign language anxiety has been considered as one of the most intervening factors of foreign language learning. Evidence has been found to prove the significantly negative influence of language anxiety on language learning at various levels. Although it has attracted the attention of many specialists, not all language learners, teachers, and educators have had thorough understandings of this issue in their local educational contexts. This article aims at investigating the anxiety of first year English majored students at Hue University of foreign languages by using a reliable tool to measure anxiety levels entitled the foreign language classroom anxiety scales (FLCAS). Based on collected data, the paper concludes with some recommendations for future studies on FLA.
