Abstract

Critical thinking has been identified as one of the crucial skills for 21st-century global citizens. Developing critical thinking in students essentially involves nurturing their abilities for independent thinking, comprehending and processing rational and scientific information, and aiming to foster problem-solving and creative competence in alignment with the 2018 high school program. This article elucidates the concept of critical thinking, analyzes its role in Biology education, and proposes a framework for the critical thinking competency of high school students, accompanied by a set of indicators. Clearly defining the framework for high school students' critical thinking competency provides a foundation for developing strategies to enhance their critical thinking skills in teaching Biology at the high school level.
