Abstract

Grammatical metaphor is one of the linguistic phenomena introduced by Halliday in his research on systemic functional grammar. This article analyzes ideological metaphors in Vietnamese economic contracts based on the theory of systemic functional grammar. The purpose of the article is to find out the features in ideological metaphors, ways expression, non-configure (metaphorical) and configure (non-metaphorical) forms. The research results show that the ideological metaphor in the contract is realized through the nominalization of phrasal verbs and the nominalization of clauses. And the nominalization of clause is much more dominant than the nominalization of phrasal verbs. Nominalization of phrasal verbs occurs in most transitivity processes. The nominalization of a clause includes three main cases, among which the nominalization of clause acting as a circumstance is much more dominant.
